Aqualand gone bonkers

AL0000-04EThis morning, precisely @ 9:23:18, my good ol’ Citizen Promaster Analog Aqualand started to beep continuously and the watch hands stopped moving.
While I was already thinking about the easiest way to service the watch – which was done in April 04(!) – I came around some hints on the net that this behaviour isn’t necessarily an indication for a battery failure only but could be evoked by some internal error too.

The suggestions are to reset the watch – unscrew the crown and press all three buttons for two seconds – et voilà, seems we have a working watch, or at least a silent one , again.

Adam Nieman did some exceedingly impressing visualizations which depict the total volume of air and water in the world.
I’m bound to cite him “ Surprisingly small quanties when you look at them like this!

Water

All the water in the world (1.4087 billion cubic kilometres of it) including sea water, ice, lakes, rivers, ground water, clouds, etc.

Air

All the air in the atmosphere (5140 trillion tonnes of it) gathered into a ball at sea-level density.

More than 30cm diameter of bone china is one perfect place to enjoy Sushi. By oneself or for two, as there are two grooves for the chopsticks in the platter. In either case there is plenty of space to arrange your favoured Sushi or Sashimi at the bank of a Shoku lake, and as you can see Gari and Wasabi make a nice visual accompaniment too.

Maybe one day we have a blogger meeting in NY, but as a start we could just share the shipping.

Lese gerade ""An allem nagt der Zahn der Zeit" von Midas Dekkers und bin dort im Kapitel "Staub und Asche" auf folgende Erläuterung gestoßen:

  Sarx, das auch unserem Wort »Sarg« zugrunde liegt, bedeutet im Griechischen Fleisch, phagein heißt essen. Ein Sarkophag ist ein Fleischesser.  

Hmm, ist dann "Mumienschrein" die Bezeichnung, die auch die alten Ägypter gebrauchten?
